Fluent in Japanese, Pamela lived in Kyoto and Tokyo for seventeen years. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Amherst College, she holds a doctorate from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Pamela works offsite as an ex-pert consultant on Japan-related projects for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. and has taught in the University of Hawaii System. She teaches history at Punahou School in Honolulu.
